Turns out, surviving things makes you curious. About who you were. Who you became. And who the hell you're becoming next.
So I write things. Build things. Question things. And occasionally follow an idea way further than I intended.
Anyway. I'm fascinated by all of it.
People. Relationships. Identity. Consciousness. Culture. The universe. And all the things we believe without remembering who taught us to believe them.
Basically anything that makes me stop and think:
Wait. Why DO we believe that? But underneath all those rabbit holes, there's one question I keep coming back to:
By our families. Our relationships. Our culture. What happened to us. What was expected of us. Who we learned to be just to make it through certain chapters.
And what happens when we start questioning all of it?
This one started with a question: What if we actually spent time getting to know ourselves?
Octave is a daily reflection practice for getting to know the one person you'll spend your entire life with.
You.
Come inside my head. It gets weird in here.
A YouTube channel where I talk about the things I can't stop thinking about — relationships, identity, self-worth, spirituality, culture, becoming, and whatever rabbit hole I'm currently down.
Come for my inner thoughts. Maybe leave thinking a little differently about your own.
Turns out, some lemons become books.
For the woman rebuilding after the thing she thought would break her.
Wear what you believe.
Things I've said, things I believe, and things that were apparently destined to end up on a T-shirt.
Honestly, I wasn't trying to build any of this.
I was trying to figure myself out.
Life had changed. I had changed. And somewhere along the way, I realized I didn't actually know who I was anymore — outside of the roles I'd played, the people I'd loved, the things I'd survived, and all the versions of me I'd needed to be.
So I started asking questions.
(Shocking, I know.)
I wrote. I thought. I went down rabbit holes. I learned things. Unlearned things. Changed my mind about things I once would've sworn I knew.
And every once in a while, one of those questions became something.
A book. An idea. A conversation. An app. A whole other rabbit hole.
I guess that's what Raine May is. Not a perfectly packaged version of me. Just a place for everything I'm curious about, everything I'm creating, and everything I'm still figuring out.
I'm not here because I figured out life.
I'm here because I got really interested in living mine.
Essays, questions, rabbit holes, and things I can't stop thinking about.
Not because everything is bullshit.
Because you're allowed to ask "For Why?"
You get to keep discovering who you are.
